Sustainable Glamping in Maremma: Our Five Choices
It’s not about eco-labels or green certificates.
It’s simply the way we have chosen to live in this place - and how we want our guests to experience it.
There is a difference between managing a place and inhabiting it.
Those who manage think about guests. Those who inhabit think about the earth, the water, the darkness, the animals crossing the field at night—and then the guests.
We belong to the second category. Not out of ideology, but because we wouldn’t know any other way. Maremma cannot be managed. It must be respected.
Energy
The Tuscan sun does more than just warm our days.
A 12kW solar panel system powers our entire retreat – Eco-Suites, apartments, and the pool. The air conditioning that lets you sleep in summer, the hot water in your private Jacuzzi, the soft evening lights: it all comes from the sky. Zero coal. Zero guilt.
Water
A pool that respects your skin and the earth.
No chlorine. Our swimming pool and hot tubs use saltwater – respecting our guests’ skin and the surrounding soil ecosystem. It’s not an aesthetic detail. It’s a choice with a real impact on what ends up in the ground.
Earth
A centuries-old olive grove. Zero pesticides.
Our sustainable glamping in Tuscany is surrounded by an olive grove that produces IGP Extra Virgin Olive Oil – the same oil we taste and share with our guests. We have a small organic vegetable garden (in summer) and a corner of aromatic herbs – rosemary, sage, mint – freely available to our apartment guests. The earth takes care of us. It’s only right we take care of her.
Local Network
Keeping value within the community.
We guide our guests to hidden local osterie, authentic farmhouses, local cheese makers and wine cellars in the area. Not because it’s “touristy” – but because we want value to circulate within the territory, not stop here. A regenerative holiday cannot be extractive for the place that hosts it.
Darkness
Zero light pollution. For you. And for them.
We keep light pollution at absolute zero – Bortle scale 3-4. This means seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye, melatonin doing its job again, and experiencing true Sleep Tourism. But it also means something we often forget: protecting nocturnal wildlife. The hedgehogs, bats, and owls crossing the olive grove at night need the dark as much as we do. Darkness isn’t an absence. It’s the presence of something the city has lost.
All of this is not an effort. It is simply the way we have chosen to be here.
You are not paying to sleep in a tent.
You are paying to sleep in the real Maremma.
Your time, our space.
If this is how you want to experience your next pause, we have prepared a place for you.
Are you a journalist or a content creator? Discover our Press Tours.
The best way to understand this place is to live it. Press Tours are open – during the week, on an individual or family basis. On weekends, our guests take priority, and frankly, a press tour among a crowd wouldn’t do justice to what we want you to feel.
